A new stone in the family

This dollop of amethyst might be real magic. I was perusing stones at the local lapidary with no intention of purchasing anything because I already have too many stones, but when I saw this one I could not leave the shop without it, even though it was expensive. This stone radiates purple, and will fit perfectly at the base of a hilt.

The local rains might be my fault

I created four wands at once in three days and now the rain won't stop falling. Usually, when I finish one new wand, there's a pretty good chance that rain will fall within the week. Four in three days might have been a bit of a mistake. The next five days were a sweltering boil, and the rain started to fall on the six. Nine days later, the rain is still falling.

I won't complain about the rain, ever, because I've lived in the middle of a drought for a decade, but August is usually the hottest, driest month of the year. Now I've turned it into a cool, muddy mess that's preventing me from working outside, where I craft the wands. Good for the grass. Terrible for my compulsion to make wands. My fingers itch. I'm pacing. I'm falling asleep on the couch. No wands are getting made.

One wand at time from now on, folks. One wand at a time.
